Terms & Conditions — Online Shop

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the HiFi Installations online shop at www.hifiinstallations.co.za (“the Website”) and any purchase you make from us. By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms in full.

HiFi Installations is a South African business operating in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

3. Placing an Order

By completing and submitting an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products at the displayed price. An order is only confirmed once you receive a written order confirmation from us via email.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order at our discretion, including where:

  • The product is no longer available or has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
  • There is an error in the price or product description on the website.
  • Payment has not been received or cannot be verified.
  • We suspect fraudulent activity.

Should we cancel your order, we will refund any payment received in full within 7 business days.


4. Pricing & Payment

All prices displayed on the website are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT at the current applicable rate, unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change without prior notice. The price applicable to your order is the price displayed at the time your order is confirmed.

4.1 Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) — proof of payment must be emailed to sales@hifiinstallations.co.za
  • Credit and debit card payments via our secure payment gateway
  • Cash on collection (in-store only, by prior arrangement)

Orders will not be processed or dispatched until full payment has been received and verified.


5. Delivery

5.1 Delivery Areas
We deliver to physical addresses throughout South Africa. We do not deliver to PO Boxes or postal addresses. Delivery to outlying or remote areas may incur additional charges and extended lead times.

5.2 Delivery Times
Standard delivery is estimated at 3 – 7 business days from date of confirmed payment, subject to stock availability. Items that need to be ordered from the manufacturer or distributor may carry extended lead times, and you will be notified of this prior to fulfilment.

5.3 Delivery Charges
Delivery charges are calculated at checkout based on your location and the size/weight of your order. Any applicable charges will be clearly displayed before you confirm payment.

5.4 Receiving Your Delivery
Please ensure that someone is available at the delivery address to sign for the goods. HiFi Installations will not be held liable for missing or stolen parcels once delivery has been signed for at the specified address. If a delivery attempt fails, the courier will contact you to reschedule. Re-delivery fees may apply.


6. Stock & Product Availability

While we strive to keep our website up to date, product availability can change rapidly. In the event that a product you have ordered is out of stock, we will contact you within 2 business days to advise on expected availability or offer an alternative solution.

We sell premium brands including, but not limited to, NAD, Bluesound, Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, Bowers & Wilkins, Wharfedale, Sonos, KEF and Rithum. All products sold are genuine, sourced through authorised South African distributors, and carry the applicable manufacturer warranty.


7. Warranties & Manufacturer Guarantees

All products are sold with the manufacturer’s standard warranty applicable in South Africa. Warranty terms vary by brand and product category. Please retain your proof of purchase (invoice/order confirmation) as this is required for any warranty claim.

Warranty claims are facilitated through HiFi Installations. Products found to be faulty within the warranty period will be repaired, replaced, or refunded in accordance with the CPA and the manufacturer’s warranty policy.

Warranties do not cover:

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or accidental damage.
  • Damage caused by unauthorised modification or repair.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage caused by power surges or incorrect electrical supply.

8. Returns, Exchanges & Refunds

8.1 Your Right to Return (CPA Section 56)
In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, you may return a product within 6 months of delivery if it is found to be defective. We will repair, replace, or refund the product at your election, subject to an assessment confirming the defect.

8.2 Change of Mind Returns
We accept change of mind returns within 7 days of delivery, provided the product is:

  • Returned in its original, undamaged packaging.
  • In an unused, resaleable condition with all accessories, manuals, and documentation included.
  • Not a special order or custom-configured item.

Return shipping costs for change of mind returns are for the customer’s account. A handling fee may apply.

8.3 How to Initiate a Return
To initiate a return or exchange, contact us at sales@hifiinstallations.co.za with your order number, a description of the issue, and photographic evidence where applicable. Do not return any product without prior written authorisation from us.

8.4 Refunds
Approved refunds will be processed within 7 – 10 business days via the original payment method. Delivery charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error or a defective product.


9. Privacy & Protection of Personal Information (POPIA)

HiFi Installations respects your privacy and is committed to complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). The personal information you provide when placing an order is used solely for order fulfilment, communication, and improving our service.

We will not sell, share, or disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, except where required by law or as necessary to fulfil your order (e.g. sharing your delivery address with a courier).

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at sales@hifiinstallations.co.za.


10. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including product descriptions, images, logos, and graphics, is the property of HiFi Installations or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this website without our prior written consent.


11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HiFi Installations shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our website or products purchased from us. Our liability in any circumstance is limited to the value of the product(s) in the relevant transaction.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under the CPA or any other applicable South African legislation.


12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.


13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon publication on our website. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
